Stephanie Herseth Sandlin is a Principal at OFW Law and has dedicated her professional career to advancing public policy important to agriculture, rural economic development, renewable energy and nutrition.  Stephanie served in the United States House of Representatives from 2004-2011 representing South Dakota’s At-Large District.  She served on the Agriculture Committee, Natural Resources Committee and Veterans’ Affairs Committee as well as the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.  She was also Co-Chair for the Blue Dog Coalition and a Senior Whip and Co-Chair of the Rural Working Group for the Democratic Caucus.   
As a member of the Agriculture Committee, Stephanie helped write the 2008 Farm Bill.  She also worked to enact two Renewable Fuels Standards important to the biofuels industry.  As a leader on issues important to Native American tribes, Stephanie introduced the Tribal Law and Order Act which was signed into law in 2010.  And as Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Economic Opportunity Subcommittee, she worked to modernize education benefits for our younger generation of veterans and helped pass the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.
Stephanie currently serves on the Board of Directors of the South Dakota State University Innovation Campus and was appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Tribal Law and Order Commission.  Prior to serving four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, Stephanie was Executive Director of the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation.  She is a 1997 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and was a law clerk for both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota.
