Elliot Belilos, Experienced Consumer Product Safety Counsel, Joins Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz PC as Of Counsel

Washington-Sept. 24- Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Bode Matz PC (OFW), a leading Washington, D.C. law and lobbying firm, serving clients in life sciences, including health policy and agriculture, is pleased to announce that Elliot Belilos has joined the firm. Mr. Belilos will serve as Of Counsel.

Mr. Belilos has managed dozens of Consumer Product Safety Commission-related recalls. He has more than 19 years of experience representing companies and trade associations on consumer product safety matters, including policy and enforcement issues before the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Mr. Belilos has served as general counsel to the American Fireworks Standards Laboratory, the first entity to establish truly independent product testing in China. He also crafted a report to the CPSC regarding lead paint found on the zippers of backpacks imported from China. He worked hand-in-hand with the distributor to improve the manufacturing processes of its Chinese supplier.

Mr. Belilos has served as counsel to a trade association for the unit dose packaging industry, guiding the industry on issues related to CPSC's regulations for child-resistant packaging of pharmaceuticals.

He serves as product safety counsel for one of the nation's largest housewares importers. His counsel for that company has included litigating and negotiating a settlement under California's Proposition 65 for alleged failure to warn about lead and cadmium content in dinnerware. He also has provided risk assessment (physical hazards, packaging and labeling) for new products. In addition, he counsels the company on CPSC reporting obligations and quality control issues.

Mr. Belilos was born in Far Rockaway, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science in 1983 from the Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations and his Juris Doctor, with honors, in 1988 from the National Law Center at George Washington University. Mr. Belilos is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
