Phil Olsson Featured in Meatingplace Article on What the Next Four Years May Hold for the Meat Industry[WASHINGTON—January 2009] Phil Olsson, founder and senior principal at Olsson Frank Weeda, was featured in an article titled “Full Speed Ahead,” that was published in the January 2009 edition of Meatingplace. Drawing on forty years of experience with legislative and regulatory issues affecting the meat industry, Mr. Olsson discusses how the change in administration, recent food safety concerns and the financial crisis could impact the meat processing industry. Mr. Olsson views the change in administration as an opportunity for new ideas and initiatives to be considered and thinks that change is good for the country, as well as the meat industry. With respect to interacting with the Obama Administration, Mr. Olsson explained that “[w]e need to be sure that…the new team understands how meat and poultry processing works and how it’s regulated, and that the industry has as great an interest as anyone is putting out the safest possible product.” |
