Former Congressional Chief of Staff Roger Szemraj Joins Olsson, Frank and Weeda as Counsel

[WASHINGTON-June 25] Olsson, Frank and Weeda, P.C. (Olsson Frank), a leading Washington, D.C. law and lobbying firm serving clients in agriculture, food, drugs, medical devices and health care policy, today announced that Roger Szemraj, former Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) will join the firm effective June 25. Mr. Szemraj will serve as Counsel.

Mr. Szemraj brings over 30 years of experience working on House appropriations. In addition to serving as Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Kaptur, he's also served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Bob Traxler (D-Mich.) and Congressman Jim Barcia (D-Mich.). Throughout his career, his focus has been on policy, funding and operations of programs of USDA and FDA including food assistance programs, international food aid and development programs, food safety issues, and trade issues. Mr. Szemraj has also worked with USDA on biofuel opportunities and research programs.

Mr. Szemraj said, "I'm proud of the years I've spent working on Capitol Hill, especially my work on USDA and FDA issues. I am looking forward to using that experience in assisting Olsson Frank's clients to better work with Congress and the agencies."

Mr. Szemraj holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.
