USDA Food Assistance Programs

The domestic and international food assistance programs operated by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) offer a wide range of business opportunities for retailers, distributors, wholesalers, food manufacturers and producers. OFW Law, including our Government Relations Group and our Food Practice, can assist with a wide range of activities, including USDA food procurement actions, child nutrition labeling, licensing and enforcement, food specifications, and vendor enforcement actions involving the SNAP and WIC programs. We are also heavily involved in the regulatory action surrounding the standards for foods made available through these programs.

We are proud of the role we have played in the development and implementation of every major food-related initiative enacted since the firm's founding. We have been extensively involved in the development of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, along with all other child nutrition legislation considered over the past 25 years. We also participated in the drafting and enactment of the Agricultural Act of 2014, as well as many previous Farm Bills. We remain actively involved each year through the annual appropriations process which implements these legislative initiatives.
