The USDA’s Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) regulates the marketing of livestock, poultry and meat to protect producers and consumers from unfair, unjustly discriminatory and anti-competitive trade practices in violation of the Packers and Stockyards Act. OFW Law attorneys provide advice to meat packers, poultry slaughterers, dealers, market agencies and other regulated entities to ensure they are in full compliance with the P&S Act and implementing regulations. This includes how to structure business arrangements and adopt business practices that are not unfair, unjustly discriminatory or anti-competitive, and how to ensure producers are paid promptly and fully for livestock and poultry in compliance with the Act. Should GIPSA allege a violation of the P&S Act or implementing regulations, our attorneys have the experience and expertise to represent clients in GIPSA enforcement actions, including Stipulation Agreements and administrative proceedings before an Administrative Law Judge.
